Tungsten increases ultimate strength and yield strength of steel and reduces elongation insignificantly. It increases strength and wear resistance, improves mechanical properties of steel at high temperatures, heat stability and tempering resistance.
Tungsten is the main alloying element of steels for hot working tools and high-speed steels.

At request ferrotungsten can be made with molybdenum contents of not more than 5% by mass in grade ФВ80a, with tungsten contents of not less than 77% by mass in grade ФВ75a, with silicon contents of not more than 3% by mass in grade ФВ70a and with total contents of antimony, bismuth and lead of not more than 0.15% by mass in grades ФВ75аб ФВ70a.
Supplied in lumps of not more than 100 mm, packed in steel drums.
Density 13.8 – 15.5 g/cm3
Melting point 1640 - 2500 °С.
